Birth is different for everyone.

Birth can have you breathing through sunrises, or be over so fast you can barely catch your breath. It can stay calm, or ask for everything you've got. It can go exactly to plan, or rewrite it completely. Some births hold it all. However it unfolds for you, what matters is that you feel supported.

Birth doesn't follow a script.

my philosophy and approach

Birth doesn't follow a script, and I don't believe it should have to. My role isn't to help you plan for one specific outcome — it's to help you feel confident and informed enough to meet whatever happens, while the decisions along the way stay yours. I draw on mindfulness-based techniques and hands-on comfort measures, and I make space for you to pause and ask questions whenever you need to.

You know your body better than anyone else in the room, and that doesn't change no matter how your birth unfolds. If things shift along the way, that's where I come in — helping you meet the unexpected with steadiness, not face it alone. My support isn't tied to any one path, whether that's home or hospital, physiological, medicated, or cesarean. It's centered on you feeling informed, respected, and supported, whatever that looks like.

Everyone comes into birth carrying their own history: past experiences, personal circumstances, and, for some, the effects of systemic inequities in healthcare, including real concerns about not being heard or taken seriously. I don't assume what that looks like for you, but I stay attentive to it. I'm intentional about making sure your preferences are clearly communicated, your questions are answered, and your consent stays front and center throughout your care — so that whatever your birth looks like, it remains yours.

As a woman of color, I see investing in a doula not as a luxury but as a necessity. There was real reassurance in knowing I had Jess on my team. I went into labor and delivery feeling as mentally prepared as anyone could be and that was largely because of Jess. From the very beginning, she advocated for my wishes and reassured me with evidence-based information. I felt seen, heard, and understood. Honestly, the entire experience unfolded exactly the way I had envisioned my journey, full of joy, feeling empowered and living in the moment experiencing life growing inside of me. I'm so deeply thankful for that.
